Early 2020, and a flu like virus called Covid -19 was spreading throughout the world. By late march it was spreading through Europe and London was ordered into a lockdown, shutting businesses, shops, schools, everything, and ordering everybody off the streets, all over the country. I have spent the majority of my life driving and walking this great city and I have always wondered what the usually crowded places would look like completely bereft of traffic and people. The only time you really get the opportunity to see London so empty is either early in the mornings, or on Christmas Day. The stillness of the place gives London a completely different feel. Eerie and silent. And it is beautiful. I have worked on the streets for most of my life and I was getting tired of the incessant drone of crowds, traffic, police sirens, and fumes. The lockdown gave me the opportunity to go out and document the London that I have been wanting to see for years. Pity it took a pandemic for it to happen.
